Gendered Toilet Index (GTI) to assess public toilets through 12 main assessment frameworks
The GTI moves beyond measuring the number of toilets available. It evaluates whether people can access and use them freely, safely and independently, regardless of gender, age, disability, socioeconomic status or caring responsibilities.
Each indicator should be assessed through a combination of spatial mapping, on-site audits, operational data and user experience. Results should identify both the presence of infrastructure and the conditions under which people can actually use it.
